Off I Go

July 15, 2009

So today I leave for a month.  I have to take a six hour train ride to Montreal, and then a 2 hour car ride with my grandparents down to my cottage in the Adarondak Mountains of upper New York State. It’s on a lake called Chazy and my go pretty much every year, though my mother never comes as she can’t stand being down there, she can’t drive and being stuck with my grandmother for a week is not a fun prospect for anyone. Luckily for me, I’m the golden grandchild, we get on quite well so it isn’t so bad. But as I seem to have not talked about my grandmother before, I’ll just say that she is a very interesting piece of work, I could go on a rant just about her, but I’ll leave that for later. my grandfather on the other hand reads a lot and is generally quiet. :P On Friday my aunt and uncle come down with my two cousins, ages 2 and 5 who as you can imagine are both very active and fun to be around, so that will hopefully lighten the atmosphere, and then I go on Monday back to Montreal. The next morning I take the 8:00 camp bus 3 hours up in to the Lorentian Mountains so Petite Lac Nominingue where my camp is. It’s a three weeks long all boys camp, that I’ve been going to, for two years now, and is very fun, excluding the excrusiating, swim test that is on the first day which I passed (just) on the first year and failed on the second and had to continue to do it every day until I passed it. 250 M in freezing cold, very deep wavy water and then when your muscles feel like they are going to fall off, 5 minutes of treading water. It aboslutely awful, but the rest of the time is great. Anyway, I’ll be back on the 14th, but nothing until then, as I won’t have access to a computer.

See ya!

Beggar to Richman

July 5, 2009

So after last post, I went over to a friend’s house, where I’ve been helping them to do the demolition part of renovating their kitchen and my friend’s father gave me $100!!!! :D It was really out of the blue, as I had been doing it completely voluntarily, but it definitely helped with buying everything I want to get.

I went to a party for a friend’s baby today and got very queasy from eating too many custard tarts, but overall it was fun, I caught up with some kids I haven’t seen in a few years because they’ve moved away which was good.

Very much looking forward to Torchwood tomorrow, I’ll be roaming You Tube all afternoon from 4:00 my time onward waiting for someone to get Day One up. and then hopefully the Soundtrack will come out the next day, I’m crossing my fingers that it is put up in the morning so I can stay up and get it before I nod off thanks to the 5 hour time difference! :P

Also, the Doctor Who Forum is going to go in to archive mode today, as of 12:00 tonight (Shaun’s time, I’m guessing) the ability to post is removed. Still there for another month though. I’ve got to make my last post soon.

Other then that, I made another blog (yes I know, another one) over at http://www.noblerocks.wordpress.com for all my art and manips and stuff so feel free to check that out, it has all my stuff from since I started to now except for the avatars and pieces that I never finished and then deleted. I’ve yet to come up with a banner for there, sadly as well as a favicon, but those both should be up shortly.

Ok and we’re back! I’ve been sleeping to much to actually post, yes I know lousy excuse, but summer holidays have never felt so gooooood! :D

So Exams and tests have finished and the report card it back a few days ago. Besides the 54 in French  , I don’t know how I went from 75 50 54, really no f**king idea, but there you go. No more Geography ever again, next year is already looking up! :p

Since I got out, I have been sleeping (as mentioned before), reading through The Bartimaeus Trilogy which I love besides the last few scenes! I know I’m such a sap, but I want Kitty and Nat to end up together or something, it’s so sudden. :(

I’ve also been on Gallifrey Base an awful lot. It went up a couple of weeks ago and it’s going great, everything and more from DWF is there, it’s all very exciting.

I’m also spending some time down at a friend of my mom’s house where they are renevating their kitchen completely, and making it bigger. So I’ve been stripping one room down to the bare boards and taking all the cabnets off the walls with her husband. It’s quite fun!

The only sad thing is the fact that I don’t have any money what so ever! :p I know it’s sad, and there is so many things that I want to buy, or things coming out that I want to buy and I can’t. I was even offered a great job for 9 days only to have the person pull.

Anyway, I’ve been listening through the new Torchwood, full cast audios which can be downloaded for 7 days from their broadcast http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/features/torchwood/download/. Sadly the first one has stopped working outside the UK, which sucks for those who have not got it.

Another big reason why I want money is that the new S3 Torchwood soundtrack is coming out on the 7th and it’s looking very good. Children of Earth starts on the 6th and 9:00, BBC One, so looking forward to seeing that on youtube.

I go off to my cottage for a week on the 15th, which is down in New York State mountains and then up to the Quebec mountains for 3 weeks for an all boys camp that I’ve been going to for 2 years.

Hopefully I’ll update this once more before I leave

Last Day of School

June 5, 2009

I’m alive! :D Sorry for vanishing suddenly, but live has been stressful, bonkers and quite scary for the past however long, and I keep on forgetting to post something! :P Anyway this will be rather long as a result.

Firstly on the topic of the title, it is indeed the last day of proper school over here. Very exciting and all, no more grade nine! :D I of course still need to go in for the exams for the next two weeks, but that only adds up to 1 day of school in the amount of hours, so not really a big deal. Summer is here!

Since my last blog post, I’ve downloaded Hard Candy and while the cover is gross, and Madge looks like an old slut, there are some great songs hidden inside all the rest. On a similar note, I found the original of her Madgesty’s American Life music video that was pulled cause it was too crazy and offensive especially with all the troops going off to war. http://raf.se/movie.asp?director=02j…rican_Life.mov Still looking for a downloadable version of it. Quite scary and in your face, but go her! I’ve also started listening to No Doubt’s 2001 album Rock Steady, Hey Baby is soo cool! :D

The News from the forum about the closure is obviously very sad, i’ve been reading tons of threads on it, but I’m confident that Steve will pull through with his site, it’s looking more and more likely now too so we will all be able to migrate over when the time comes.

My Science presentation on Wednesday actually did not go so badly. While I completed it at 3 AM that morning, it still went smoothly. I hate my teacher, he made us come in 2 hours earlier then needed for no reason, but then promptly wasted tons of time during the presentations to whine on about stuff so it actually took 4 hours. French was less sucsessful, but there were many who were no better so hopefully it doesn’t score too badly. My Math test was today, a kind of pre exam thing, and it went ok, but not as well as I would have hoped. We haven’t got our marks for any of those back yet, so I don’t know how badly I did, but there was definitely some stuff that I had no clue on. Math has always been my achilles heel this year so I want to put in some good studying this weekend and hope that I pass with a 75% or something. That would be great. my website for my school project has major projects, so I have to send an email to my teacher, hopefully he reads it and replies, cause it’s just weird.

Ok so that’s it for now

So as I’m guessing most people know by now the new companion who will accompany Matt Smith in 2010, is going to be played by Karen Gillian. Very exciting news! I got on to the forum in the last 15 minutes of lunch and saw the message! :P Looks hawt, so at least that’s promising, and I think we can trust Moffat to make a good decision. Anyway, here’s picture I made of adding Matt to the promo of her. If you want to see it in full (which isn’t that huge), go to open image in new window and remove everything after .jpg from the url.

11th Doctor Companion Promo

And in other news, it’s the weekend, so working desperately on science and french is in, downloading more music if I find anything and sleeping as much as I can. Nothing much happened today, see ya!

Wow, I’m so happy. Just bought a ticket to Kylie at the ACC! :D I know it’s 4 months away, but I’m still really excited, my first live concert! :O Only recently got in to pop music in the past year. I also downloaded some more music, the Charlie & the Chocolate Factory soundtrack, love it, especially the Oompa Loompa songs! And then I got Madonna’s Confessions on a Dance Floor. Once again showing my weird taste in music! :D Also, I downloaded the HHG2G soundtrack this morning, but my stupid mother unplugged the power cord, so I didn’t manage to get it. :( Short day today, one of my presentation members had the powerpoint and he opened it and it’s all messed up so we can’t present today, *breathes sight of relief*, I know putting it off  it bad, but I get so stressed about it! In Science now, only Geo where I can’t present and Art lef today.

Sorry I haven’t been blogging lately, just been stressed and busy. The weekend aproaches, there’s the bell!

UPDATE: That actually was the bell, and my teacher leaning over my shoulder wondering what I was doing on wordpress. :P I actually did have to present today, the guy who messed up didn’t go, and I was trying to meet with my group before we went, but they didn’t show! Anyway, I did it, and for some weird reason, my Geo teacher who can be very critical and nasty, actually liked my bit, giving positive comments on the little facts that I stuck in last night. Hopefully this will bring my mark up a bit for third term, this is 30% of my final mark for Geo! And the HG2G is great, downloading some mashups of songs now.

Kylie SQUEE!!!!

May 22, 2009

Well I talked to my mom about going to see Kylie during her For You, For Me, north american tour this fall and I can go! Probably will pick up the tickets in the next week or so, very excited! :D This is going to be so awesome! Torrented/downloaded some kylie remixes like the Chemical Brothers brilliant mix of Slow, the LA Riots remix of Boombox and the Almighty mix of Your Disco Needs You which is 8 minutes! :P Nice stuff, sad I can’t find any of the unreleased stuff like carried away or ripping up the disco. I’m tired and off to bed so night, going to read for a bit, It’s officially Friday, only a few more hours till the weekend!

Devon

Hi everyone, sorry I haven’t been around lately. It was a long weekend over here in Canada. We had a holiday called Victoria Day (http://www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/victoria_day) yesterday and I took a much needed break from life and everything. Which of course made going back today all the harder, but it was good while it lasted. Today was pretty brutal, we started off with Gym and guess what we did? Yep, it was another 12 minutes of straight running around the field in the freezing cold and once again I have been feeling weak and slow all day. Takes so much out of me. :( After that I had science, I seem to have lost my textbook, so I had to share with someone else. Hopefully it’s in the Lost & Found, I’ll try to remember to look for that tomorrow, though knowing my memory….. probably not. We also got our tests back, but because of a few tiny little things I’d forgotten here and there, I got a lot lower then I expected. 62 or something. Sucks, but I’ve never been great in science anyway. And then there was French. I completely and utterly forgot about the research we were supposed to do for that. As part of our final mark, we have to make a dialogue between a teenager and someone from the past. It’s bloody hard, I only got a little bit. I’m doing J.R.R. Tolkien. I need to have so much more then I do and not much time to do it in, really bad. Also we can’t take it home and it’s so loud in the classroom. Then moving on in my day of awfulness, I had Art, where we have to do portraits of pictures that she’s given us and I suck at sketching. Also I have a pounding headache and my body aches and feels really weak (see above) so not doing that great anyway. And finally English, we got a little more stuff for our final assignment. I have lots of work I need to do for that one too, will try to put some of that together for Thursday or whenever I have her  again. I finished the stuff/was feeling too shitty to do much, I watched some of Planet of the Dead under my desk for the last half an hour. And biking home, I swear I am getting weaker, even when we don’t do the run, I’m much slower and get tired quicker now, then when I started biking a few weeks ago. I don’t know what’s happening to me. Still have to do that bloody powerpoint for Geo, my group members haven’t even sent me the stuff so I can’t put that in. I need to start doing some studying for stuff, but that’s a few weeks away luckily and the stress just is always weighing down on me all the time now, of everything I have to do before the end of the year. I think the projects are causing me more grief then the exams though.

I’m going to try and get some stuff done today hopefully, and also by the way, little plug to the disciples of Donna blog which is now up HERE so go check that out if your interested. Some nice pieces of fan fiction and some of my art there too. And yes that’s my banner. :P

Devon

Well the morning went pretty good. French was just a big talk about the exam mainly, math we talked a bit about stuff and one of the kids in the class read out a list of quotes that my teacher had made over the year, mostly inappropriate even more so because he’s in his late 50’s and is quite rotund. :P

In english we had a student teacher from OISE (Ontario Institute for Studies in Education) come to talk about some advertisements. The Geo, BTT (computer) and english end of year projects are linked and their all about the environment so we’ve been reading and watching stories related to that. So the adds were obviously for environmental groups. Really cool thought provoking adds, I’ll post them later if I can find them. ;)

After that it was the carnival which was a complete and utter disaster IMO. Everything had to be payed for, but there was never any talk about that anywhere and the activities were stupid. I spent most of the time inside and then they kicked everyone out an hour early so I came home.

It’s a long weekend too, so lots more sleeping and not much else. WOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOO! :D

I have to go and babysit a couple of kids soon. I normally babysit this one 9 year old on Tuesday, but his mom asked my to come today and he has a friend over. I want more money! :P Anyway, off soon, I’ll try to find those adds and hopefully I’ll get more views tomorrow.

Devon

Today was better then I thought it was going to be. In math we’re doing pretty much the same thing we were doing before which was perimeter, area, volume. I’m pretty sure I ace’d the test so doing more should be good for my almost failing math mark! :D In Gym we were in the weight room again. I felt very tired for some reason, but it was ok and then there was science where we read and answers the whole time.

Geo was great, as three groups were supposed to present our ending project (instead of an exam), but members were at track and field, art and drama trips so we just hung out all class. And the group that was pushed even further back ended up not being able to do it so my group opted to switch with them which gives me more time to work on the powerpoint. I’m such a procrastinator! :P And art was funny, we were doing face proportion and people were making huge eyes and messing up and it was hilarious.

On another note, the Disciples of Donna is setting up a site on wordpress so that should be up in the next few weeks which is exciting cause I’m obsessed with wordpress, so working more with it, is awesome!

We also got our exam times table today and I have tons of free time. On the first two days I have a school board math evaluation which is quite pointless and doesn’t mean anything what so ever, but they still do it in grades 3,6, and 9 so we do the math this year and the english part next year. Anyway my teacher decied to use that as our mark rather then make another test. it’s in the afternoon at 2 or so for an hour and a half, the first two days so I can chill all morning! It’s a good schedule, lots of free time. I love the idea of exams! :D

And Finally Blavatars which is Blog + Avatar. Basically in wordpress you can change that little pic next to the URL. Doesn’t seem to work at the moment, but it takes a while anyway, hopefully that will be up soon which is so cool!
